Efficient Snow-Melting System Installation in Michigan
Performance Engineering Group has been successfully integrating snow-melting and radiant systems into commercial, retail, industrial and residential environments since 1964.
Our effective systems are great for quickly melting snow on your driveway, walkway, stairs, or roof. When temperatures drop, heated water and antifreeze are pumped into tubing, melting any snow that accumulates. We back our systems by providing robust components with extended warranties along with our engineering expertise, project-specific design, and system drawings. In addition, we provide all parts and components necessary for installation and full technical support after the sale.
Benefits of Heated Driveways, Stairs, and Walkways

- Driveway snow melting increases your driveway's longevity
- Convenience, safety, and peace of mind
- Provides safe, secure, and low-risk environments
- Prevents hazardous accidents
- Adds convenient common area maintenance
- Reduces ongoing maintenance costs
- Increases the value of your property
Integrating Snow Melting Systems Into Green Buildings
Our experts can integrate snow-melting systems with renewable energy sources, such as solar thermal and geothermal, into green building solutions (including permeable paving systems). We take pride in being able to customize our process to the needs and considerations of our clients, which include building owners, homeowners, architects, contractors and developers. We have the experience and expertise to design and implement your integrated snow melting system.
Radiant Snow-Melting Systems
Snow and ice-melting radiant heat systems are highly useful and adaptable in many applications. Libraries, offices, municipal buildings, sports stadiums, and many entertainment venues incorporate sloped ramps and steps to accommodate both regular foot traffic as well as those with disabilities. We have installed a great number of snow melt systems in steps and ramps, solving accessibility issues while staying in compliance with ADA requirements for full accessibility. Snow melting and radiant heating systems can be installed retroactively in most pre-existing structures. There is, of course, a significant cost saving when it can be designed in the initial planning stages of your project.
Geothermal Snow-Melting Systems
Geothermal heating systems can be used in tandem with snow-melting systems. Geothermal energy can be used to heat pavements and melt snow during the winter. These systems use stored heat from the earth's crust in conjunction with heat pump technology to move and amplify heat instead of making it. Snow-melting systems can be incorporated into geothermal system design.
Permeable Pavers
Permeable paving systems (and in particular, permeable pavers) enable stormwater to filter into the soil instead of draining into overwhelmed storm sewers. This can help satisfy state and local stormwater management requirements. Permeable paver systems trap pollutants and allow filtered water to reenter the ground through the actual pavement system, which can eliminate or lower costs related to storm sewer systems and retention ponds. Permeable brick paver systems provide value through the reduction or elimination of retention ponds, meaning zero puddling. Permeable paving also offers invisible repairs, long life cycles, and LEED Points. In colder climates, permeable paver installations can be compromised by freezing the compacted subsoil, which can cause pavers to heave and disrupts the pavement's filtration process. These problems can be eliminated by adding a heat source, such as our snow melting systems.
